NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer—SAN Specialist

The NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer–SAN, ONTAP exam tests the candidate’s ability in implementing, integrating, and troubleshooting ONTAP SAN, FC switched fabric, NVMe, and iSCSI solutions, different operating systems (Windows, LINUX, ESX, UNIX) and applications.

Candidates should have 6-12 months experience implementing ONTAP SAN solutions, and advanced SAN knowledge of integrating and configuring block protocols in a customer environment.

Candidates must first achieve the NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) certification.

You should be able to do these tasks:

• Zoning
• Provisioning
• Mapping
• Configuring multipath and checking
• Configuring an SVM
• Support matrix (IMT)
• Basic troubleshooting

Domain 1 ONTAP^® SAN solution assessment

• Prerequisites and inventory for the installation of all SAN components during planning.
• Configuration components using tools.
• Solution design and hardware provisioned to meet customer’s requirements or expectations.
• Environmental or physical considerations.

Domain 2 ONTAP SAN Concepts

• Data protection concepts
• Storage controller configuration concepts
• Switch and/or host configuration concepts
• Storage space utilization or management concepts

Domain 3 ONTAP SAN implementation and configuration

• Clustered storage systems and node configuration tasks
• SVM configuration tasks
• Clustered storage system FCP configuration tasks
• Clustered storage system NVMe configuration tasks
• Clustered storage system iSCSI configuration tasks
• Switches and host systems
• Data protection
• Storage space utilization or management concepts

Domain 4 ONTAP SAN implementation testing and troubleshooting

• Testing tasks
• Troubleshooting tasks
• Data migration

Candidates must first achieve the NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) certification.
