Using data to solve the world's most complex challenges

As one of the top engineering and technology universities in the world, The Delft University of Technology solves complex environmental problems with high-performance computing (HPC) clusters. In 2021, the university launched an ambitious project to increase solution speed, capacity, and functionality by consolidating 15 small HPC clusters into one large supercomputer. The end result was DelftBlue, one of the fastest supercomputers in the world.

TU Delft relies on NetApp high-performance storage systems to easily manage and maintain both large and small files. With their new and improved single HPC cluster, TU Delft can accelerate research and innovation, increase computing performance, and progress towards solving some of the world's most complex challenges.

Making an impact with science, design, and technology

TU Delft students and employees share a common mission: to make an impact for a better society. With DelftBlue and the support of NetApp technologies, TU Delft researchers are able to test models and methods faster, bringing them closer to discovering solutions to climate change, water conservation, and renewable energy.

DelftBlue's data storage backbone supports the flexibility to grow with nonstop availability. New capacity can be added without downtime and administrators can keep up with growing demands without having an adverse impact on performance. And with NetApp's ultra-low power storage systems, DelftBlue helps reduce the school's carbon footprint and contributes to a more sustainable future.

Integrating Fujitsu compute and NetApp storage solutions leads to greater speeds, more flexibility, reliability and performance.
